Well Pump Maintenance

Over time, sediment builds up at the bottom of the well pressure tank and can cause issues with the overall operation of the system. During our well system tune-up and maintenance, this sediment is flushed off the bottom of the tank so it can’t wreak havoc with your plumbing and water well system.

After a while, the air charge in your well tank can get out of balance. When this happens, the whole operation of the well pump and well tank get out of sync and lead to many issues that cause well pump failure. During the well pump tune up, we check and recharge the pressure tank so it’s at its optimum air level.

We’ll check the wiring connected to your well pump for signs of damage or wear.

We will run your well pump through a series of tests to see how it’s producing and to detect any early signs of diminishing performance.

There are a series of electrical tests we run to ensure the well pump motors wirings are sound and power cables that run from the house to the well are sound and intact. We also inspect for proper grounding to ensure your well pump is as protected as it can be in the event of a lightning strike.

The well pressure switch is responsible for turning the well pump on and off. Over time, build up can occur on the points that make contact when the pressure switch closes. We will inspect the pressure switch to ensure it is in good working condition.

Because the quality of groundwater does change, for your safety the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources strongly recommends that well owners test their water annually for bacteria, nitrates, and arsenic. 

The well cap keeps the water that you drink safe. If your well cap is not sealed and is allowing insects and rodents to enter your well, your drinking water (and neighboring drinking water) can be contaminated. A properly sealed vermin proof well seal is critical to clean, healthy and safe well water. We validate it is during our well pump tune up.
